[Last Time on "The Promised Dinner"]

Matilda breathed a sigh of relief. He was going to eat. She wouldn't be eating alone. It would have made her uncomfortable if he hadn't gotten something to eat. She planned on making his night, one to remember, and she figured it would be one for the books for her.

Not knowing what to make of the sigh, Ace asked, "So, is Asian food your go-to?"

"It is when I want something more than a sandwich with all the fixings. I do like Italian especially when I need to get my carbs. Asian food, is my go to. Pizza comes in second then it goes to Mexican food. Or steak or--Okay my taste varies when it comes to food and what I am in the mood for. But Asian, it's, something delicious and healthy. I am glad you ordered something for yourself. If I am out with someone and they don't eat, it makes me self conscious and makes me feel that I am being rude," Matilda said, looking earnestly into his eyes. "Don't worry we'll be burning all of this off."

"I had little doubt of that, Tillie. Regardless, seems that you have quite the metabolism." He thought for a moment and then asked, "Do you ever slow down? You seem to always be on the go."

[AND NOW FOR THE CONCLUSION]

"I do slow down, several things I like to do. Gardening for one, fishing. I do like to take time to walk along a beach, sit down on a rock and watch as the stars and the moon rise above the ocean or sea. And at times just lay down on a patch of grass and watch as clouds go by. Those are my slower momentum sort of things I like to do. What about you?" she asked, walking alongside Ace after he had his food.

"What about me?" Ace asked with a sly smirk.

"What do you do, besides pretty women who are willing?" Matilda had a cheeky grin. She had no illusions; she was going to be a mark on his bedpost. One night to be feeling beautiful, desirable, and for him she dressed up. He gave her the desire to do so.

"Pretty much anything," he answered honestly. "I'm partial to anything that will give me an adrenaline rush. We're only around once, so why waste it?"

"And it lasts for but a moment then onto the next fix." Matilda gave a knowing smile of understanding. "And here you are stuck with Miss boring personality," she said teasingly. "Whereas you certainly charge me up. I couldn't get you out of my mind," giving Ace a sultry wink.

"Charge YOU up?" Ace asked laughing. "And you're boring? I seem to recall being a royal pain in the ass when we first met."

"You intrigued me otherwise I would not have made arrangements for us to have dinner. " Matilda responded "Which way to your place or are we already there?" The redhead hadn't been paying attention to where they were going, being more involved in talking with Ace.

Ace turned down a corridor to his left and led her on, "Just over here on the right...." The door opened as he approached, and he led Matilda inside. Ace's quarters had the look of a last minute cleaning. Things were neat but a closer inspection would reveal that things were hastily put in closets or cabinets. There were some holopictures of himself skydiving, by some old fashioned sportscar, a speedboat, and a runabout. He always seemed to have a gleeful smile on his face. He led her to a table by the replicator and asked, "Did they give us any utensils or do I need to replicate them for us?"

Matilda looked inside the bag containing her food, "Looks like we'll need to replicate some, unless you are skilled in using chopsticks." Looking from the bag to Ace, she continued, "and some drinks would be good. Green tea if you don't mind." Matilda placing her food upon the table, then walked over to sit down on a chair to take off her heels. She didn't mind the fact that Ace's place had a lived in look. It seemed cozy and comfortable. "If you don't mind, I'd like to go wash my hands."

"Make yourself at home. Best sink is in the restroom," Ace offered. "I have no problem with chopsticks, but I'll replicate some forks and knives, as well. Green tea, you say? Alright, no problem." Ace made himself busy, heading to the replicator while Matilda went to the restroom.

Matilda came back out a short time later. "Thank you." She watched Ace for a moment or two when her eyes were drawn to the images that were on display. "Looks like you do like things that bring on a rush. The sportscar you have there, what model and what year is it?"

"You know about sports cars?" Ace asked impressed. "That is an Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. It is a beaut, isn't it? Love the red, too. But I suspect that you understood my preference for red."

"I know some. I can't claim to be an expert, but I do know a sportscar when I see one. I love the classic lines, what do you think of a 1959 red corvette? That is classic."

"It is. I'd certainly like to take a spin in it. It is a larger car than the Alfa Romeo but I would love take a spin in the '59 Corvette or frankly any little red corvette." Ace waggled his eyebrows meaningfully at Matilda.

"Ahh, you consider me a red corvette nice. Let's eat, and then we can have a bit of fun. Upfront and personal that works out rather well. I do know what I want and that is you, for how long you can stand me. Because I like what I see. And we match energy." She winked. "We'll see if you can handle things."

"A challenge?" Ace asked, his face lighting up. "Oh, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how much time it takes before you're out of gas. But, you're right. Let's get that energy stored up. Food first."

Matilda chuckled, "We will see who will win this upcoming event." She grinned from ear to ear. Then she dug in her food, and Matilda wasn't kidding when she stated she was famished. She made certain she enjoyed the flavors of the food she ordered and enjoyed the tea. There though was a even more of a hunger she had.

Ace watched Matilda bemused as he ate. Normally when he brought a woman back to his quarters, they were more anxious to get to business. Food was the last thing on their minds. Matilda, however, was quite another story. She ate her food like she had not seen it in days and might not again for a week. However, the moment that she finished, Ace moved to the other side of his small table and made certain that her mouth was met by his and her mouth did not remain empty.

Her arms went around Ace, falling into his kiss, when their lips came apart, she huskily said, "Take me to your boudoir." Her dress was made to not be difficult to remove, for she had planned for this ending. His clothing...She'd assist. She though was feeling tangible excitement, he was certainly very stimulating.

"Oooh. Using French words are we?" He scooped Matilda up into his arms and kissed her again before asking "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?" However, what Matilda may not have expected is that somewhere between Ace scooping her up and speaking French back at her, Matilda's dress was already starting to fall off of her.

"oui je veux coucher avec toi" Matilda' thoughts were going haywire as the words from a song came to her mind. From Sting
'Be still my beating heart'

Be still my beating heart
It would be better to be cool
It's not time to be open just yet
A lesson once learned is so hard to forget

But there is also throwing caution to the wind, she was one who lived in the moment, the here and now, come what may tomorrow.

"Well, then," he said, lowering her onto the bed. "We are both much too dressed for sleeping, don't you think." He told her with a knowing grin. "I could just finish what I started with that dress of yours, if you are so inclined."

"Well, and look at your shirt. At any rate, yes we are over-dressed. " Just a brief movement, the dress was off, and Matilda was under the covers.

Ace wasted no time in separating his clothing from his body. He was toned, not muscular, but Ace carried himself like he was a prime specimen and allowed Matilda to get a good look before hopping under the covers. Ace wasted no time in pulling Matilda into himself, encircling her body with his arms and his mouth finding hers. Tonight is going to be a good night.

Matilda watched with a pleased smile, as Ace showed his marvelous physique. The man looked good with clothing on and looked good without. This was going to be a wonderful night, He might actually be able to- Any other thought she had in her mind disappeared when his lips claimed hers, being swept away by his passion and hers. Wow came to mind.
