A new face to security

Location: Security
Timeline: MD 12 Afternoon

Jali stepped foot upon the deck of this new Starbase, DS5. She had caught a ride upon a supply ship that was bringing over supplies needed to continue the repairs of this station. K'doc had already arrived long before she had. She'd not let him know that she was arriving as of yet. First she needed to meet those whom she will be working under. It was a quick visit to her quarters to put her belongings in what would be her new home. Now for going to the heart of security. Dressed in a clean uniform, Jali walked into the lobby of security, approaching the front desk.

"Hello, I am Lieutenant Andloch, is Lieutenant Tessaro and Lieutenant Lee in?"

Anson came out of the back office, wiping his hands on the legs of his pants. "Did I hear my name?"



"Yes you did. I am Lieutenant Andloch. I've been transferred to this station and wished to make myself known. " Jali took in the man's physical features, making an assessment.

"Andloch," Anson mumbled under his breath. "Andloch, Andloch.... Oh, right, Andloch. Jali Andloch, correct?"

"Yes that is correct, I am Jali Andloch." The half Klingon woman replied. Still studying Anson. "You look like a capable person, that is good." She pulled out her PADD to check on his profile. "Ah yes Assistant Chief of Security. I once held that position where I used to be stationed."

Anson hesitated before saying, "Thanks. It's been a life long goal of mine to look capable." He pulls up her records. "Transferring here from SB50, huh? Our new Security Investigations officer. A lot less paperwork than Assistant Chief."

Jali tilted her head slightly as to his words, though he was right. "Yes, this is true. Though that isn't something that I avoided. All part of the job. I feel though that I am better at being an investigator, I do like to hunt, and I am good at it." giving slight smile. "And investigating crimes is a form of hunting."

"No one likes paperwork," Anson said. "It's necessary. Makes the universe go 'round. But no one likes it. Vulcans will tell you they don't dislike paperwork, but that's not the same thing. As for investigations, I always think of it as a puzzle, but I guess a hunt also works."

"In order to find who did the deed, tracking down the clues, you are correct that it is a puzzle. Either way, its all part of solving problems and finding out what, when how and why plus, the who." Jali giving a nod.

"The part where the 'who' tries to run and you have to chase them down is definitely more like a hunt, though." Anson looked around. "Lt. Tessaro -- she's the Chief of Security -- should be around here somewhere. She's the one who needs to sign off on your transfer."

Annora had been elsewhere when she received the call about a new arrival at the Security Offices. Entering the room, she saw Lt Lee talking to a Klingon female in security gold.

"Sorry, I decided to help with patrols. Lt Tessaro, and you must be the new arrival Sector Command told me about."

She held out a hand in greeting.

Jali accepted Annora's hand her grip firm but not crushing, she was already taking the security chief's measure, a slight smile appeared. "Yes I am the new arrival. I am looking forward in working with the two of you, and the others." she had a slight Russian accent when she spoke.

"In that case, allow me to formally welcome you to the station's security detachment. Let's head into my office,it's preferable to standing in the middle of the lobby."

Annora waited for the others to be seated, before following suite herself.
"Can I get either of you something from the replicator?"

Anson sat down, only to stand up at the mention of the replicator to grab the mug of coffee he'd left sitting on his desk and sit back down. "I'm good."

"Raktajino please." Jali responded, taking a seat. "This is a large station. Larger than the previous one."

Giving the drink order to the computer, it didn't take long before Annora was able to hand the desired coffee to Jali.
"It is quite large, the largest Starfleet installation I've been assigned to. It should go without saying that the larger population means more challenges compared to a comparable location with a smaller footprint."

Annora wasn't counting the planetary locations she had served on before the War as they weren't responsible for the entire planet.
"With our location near the border and a number of high profile incidents, I've requested and have been granted an increase in the number of security personnel. At the same time I've tried to maintain a balance with the civilian population. We're not here as an occupying force. Do you have any specific questions for us?"

"Is there a civilian police department that works with you? I ask as at times on other stations they do have civilian law enforcement that work with Federation. Also what shift will I be working on, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta? " These are things Jali would like to know.

"We do not have civilian law enforcement on DS5. This is purely a Starfleet station." In her mind it was a double-edged sword. They didn't have an extra department to coordinate with, but also meant there was no load sharing.
"As for a shift, I haven't nailed that down yet. Probably Beta or Gamma. While things slow down a little in the later hours, many places are open around the clock. Do you have a preference?"

"I don't have a preference at the moment. I'm good with whatever shift you will assign me. I've been on several shifts before. " Jali giving a bit of a smile.

"Gamma," Anson suggested. "It's slower, yeah, but because of that it doesn't currently have anyone with much administrative experience. She'd be useful there."

"I will accept that. And then find out about the team I will be working with" Jali giving an affirming nod. "It will be a pleasure to work with you."

"If you're both happy with that position. Then I'm happy with it as well. I'll talk with Petty Officer Lecesse, have her show you around until you feel comfortable." The department was filling out nicely, something she was happy about. Annora made a note in the system, and sent a message to Lecesse. The Betazoid was currently off shift but would see the message once she came on duty.

"I've updated your credentials in the system, you should have all the necessary permissions. If not, let the yeoman at the front desk know. Any other questions or comments?"

"None, I am looking forward to meeting everyone. And thank you very much, I am appreciative of this." Jali rising from her chair. She paused. "What do the both of you like to do when not on duty?" realizing she hadn't really asked that.

"What do I like to do, or what do I actually do?" Anson asked. "Because those aren't always the same things. I transferred recently, so I'm still working to get familiar with the station and it's residents."

"There's plenty to do on the station. The holodecks are always popular. I suggest you book in advance. There are plenty of shops and restaurants on the promenade, if that's something you're interested in. I enjoy a nice stroll through the arboretum. I hear they're working on building a resort down on the planet, but it's still a work in progress."

Annora pulled up a station directory on the PADD, handing it to the newcomer. "Those are good starting points. You may want to wander the common areas and see what appeals to you."

"That sounds like a splendid plan. And yes, I would like to get to know the others."

It was good to see the security ranks filling out, especially so soon after the Cardassian assault.
"I have some time in my schedule, can show you around. Hit the normal highlights and add in some security specific sights.

Jali gave a closed mouth smile, and an acknowledging nod.

“I wouldn’t mind an official tour myself,” Anson said. “With all the chaos, we didn’t really have time for one when I got here.” What with the trying not to die at Cardassians hands and all.TAG

"We are all agreed then." Jali giving a slight smile .
