Mission: Tergum In Tempus
Location: Various

[PREVIOUSLY]

"Perhaps if we negotiate with the Federation we can arrange a ceasefi--" Prime Marshal Chat'zel began to articulate, but he was silenced by the louder voice of Turvan as he looked towards the Communications Officer. "Send the signal to the Warship Nuvor, tell Gul Vashur. . ." Hydel paused as he allowed the silence to garner the attention of every Cardassian within the room as well as Gul Meran and Prime Marshal Chat'zel.

". . .tell her. . .Mătz Irhiy’iylakou" He commanded.

[Warship Nuvor]

Gul Vashur watched as the initial battle played itself out on the view screen in front of her. The massive wave of Klingon vessels that had taken up such a significant portion of the viewscreen caused her to tense slightly. Klingon warships were never known for possessing the latest in technological marvels. However, you didn't need the newest technology when you had a working disruptor and a compliment of torpedoes. Even more so, the sheer number of the vessels would make a frontal assault nearly impossible for the 127th and their allies.

It appeared that the station had taken a pause from engaging the remaining Cardassian and Xi'Cadian forces as more and more Klingon vessels were able to maneuver between itself and the planet. The fighter in her wanted to rush into the system with the 127th in tow and tare through the Klingon Battlecruisers; however, she wasn't blind to the significant tactical situation her and her crew faced.

Her intense thoughts were interrupted when her comm officer chirped.

"Ma'am, we just received word from Legate Turvan, it says. . .Mătz Irhiy’iylakou" The young Cardassian repeated.

Gul Vashur chucked slightly at Hydel's sense of humor. "Day of Sorrow it certainly is. . ." She said as she stood. "Tactical, signal the short fleet they are free to activate Transphasic Warp in 3. . .2. . .1!" she commanded.

Immediately her command was transmitted to the small dispatch of cargo vessels that had accompanied the 127th to their holding stage. The Groumall-class vessels, 12 in total, activated their Transphasic Warp drives and immediately exited the system and set their destinations for the space around Deep Space 5 and Pangea.

As the last of the freighters winked out of view, Gul Vashur nodded as she received confirmation that each vessel had successfully managed to activate its Transphasic Warp system. It was a modern feat of Cardassian engineering excellence that a vessel that could hardly go beyond Warp 5 had been outfitted with a technological leap in propulsion technology.

[Cardassian Pangaea Research Facility]

"Sir! 12 new contacts have just entered the system. They appear to be scattered throughout the Klingon formation. They're.......they're.... freighters. . ." The Tactical Officer reported in disbelief to Turvan.

"12 Groumall-class freighters have suddenly warped into Pangea space between us as the encroaching Klingon fleet. . .this...this doesn't make any sense!" The Gul said in disbelief as he stared at the viewscreen and then back to Turvan. "Wha--wh--what sort of attack is this?" He asked abruptly.

The Tactical Ops center was abuzz with confusion. Turvan allowed it to persist for several moments before he finally spoke up. "Computer, initiate command protocol Final Call, all Cardassian forces are to evacuate immediately." Turvan announced as he turned to a stunned Gul Mercan.

"Denat, my friend, we've fought in countless battles and shed blood together." Turvan said as klaxons began to sound throughout the facility. He reached out and gripped the fellow Cardassian's shoulder. "But I need you to carry out my orders without hesitation." He said as she strengthened his grip.

"I knew that there was a chance we would not success in our mission, and I was not prepared to watch all of your waste your lives if victory would not be within my grasp." He said as surrounding Cardassians made their way throughout the facility grabbing whatever vital equipment they could and heading towards their designated evacuation coordinates.

[Cardassian & Xi'Cadian Fleet - Pangea Orbit]

The Commanders of the Cardassian fleet carrier Ghemor and its escorts Arvawn and Beldon had already been briefed on what to do once they saw the arrival of the Cardassian freighters within the battle. Each Commander understood that while the plan for protocol Final Call meant that the battle had been lost, it did not mean that they were to needlessly sacrifice their forces. Each vessel began to coordinate with each other to begin the emergency beam out of the surviving Cardassian forces throughout the planet's surface.

"ETA until the Klingon fleet reaches the planet surface?" Gul Dusad Hulceen, commander of the Beldon requested from his seat.

"7 minutes, sir!" The Tactical Officer responded.

Gul Hulceen realized just how close they were cutting it. He gritted his teeth as he saw the hostile fleet approaching while also watching the Cardassian vessels began retrieving their troops.

"This plan had better work. . ." Gul Hulceen muttered.

[Cardassian Pangaea Research Facility]

"I've already given instructions to Gul Vashur to take command of the fleet in my place and evacuate our forces back to Xi'Cadian space." Turvan said as the Tactical Officer shouted over the building chaos. "Denat, you are to stand by her side and assist her in the same manner that you have served me." He told Gul Meran.

"Sir! The 12 freighters used Transphasic Drives to warp into the area, but--but...their class of vessels were never designed to carry such a propulsion system!" He shouted.

"Exactly!" Turvan responded as he turned away from Gul Meran. "What would happen if you took a Transphasic Warp drive and inserted it into 12 freighter vessels and had them jump light years across space and directly into a hotbed of combat?" he asked as he looked around at the gathered officers.

". . .but the Transphasic Warp drive is still in the experimental stage." Prime Marshal Chut'zel said with confusion painted across his face. "Even on one of your Dumar-class vessels, it would only work for a short period of time before needing calibration. On a vessel the size of a Groumall freighter, the intensity would trigger a warp core breach if just a disruptor beam glanced off of the hull." The Xi'Cadian Commander said as he slowly began to realize what was going on.

[Klingon Fleet]

Within moments of the smaller and hilariously underequipped vessels jumping into Klingon formation, a pre-recorded signal began repeatedly transmitting to the approaching Klingon fleet over the next 10 minutes.

"Klingon vessels, stand down, I say again, stand down. Your involvement in this Cardassian Engagement is in violation of---" The lead vessel was unable to complete its message before a wing of Bird of Preys finally broke off and immediately open fired on the vessels. It only took a matter of seconds for the vessels to deteriorate and be consumed in plasma explosions as the warp drives fell under the onslaught of the heavily equipped Klingon vessels as the Klingon picked them off as they dropped out of warp.

Cardassian & Xi'Cadian fleet took the time they needed to activate their Transphasic Warp Drive also beaming away their surviving forces from the planet's surface. Turvan watched on the viewscreen as the number of Cardassian and Xi'Cadian warships and cruisers reduced in number until each vessel had completely activated their Transphasic Warp Drives and jumped out of the system. Turvan opened a channel to Deep Space Five.

*com* "This is Legate Hydel Turvan of the Cardassian 127th Tactical Wing and the Xi'Cadian Expeditionary Wing. As the Commander of all remaining forces within this tactical area, I am ordering the immediate and complete surrender." The Cardassian said, each word piercing through his heart like a sharpened dagger.

"In accordance with Article 41(1) of Additional Protocol I of the Treaty of Bajor, I am declaring myself a non-combatant and surrendering myself into the custody of Federation forces and seeking asylum." Turvan said through clenched teeth.

"I am surrendering myself for subsequent arrest and prosecution under Federation laws and request asylum based on my well-founded fear of persecution at the hands of the Klingon Empire." He announced.

A strong part of him would have preferred faced the opposite end of a phaser rather than surrender, he also realized that the Klingon Empire would use his death as political fodder. He refused to give those rabid beasts the satisfaction. The Federation, in all of their sickening self-righteousness, had always placed such a premium on their view that all life was sacred and worthy of preservation, regardless of past aggression.

The only thing that remained uncertain was whether the enemy forces would surrender or continue fighting to the death.

With Caleb Ryan dead, the senior officer opened a comm channel to all ships and the planet. "Hydel Turvan, this is Lieutenant Commander Jacqueline Fernandez, acting commander of Deep Space 5. We accept your surrender. Please stand down immediately. Colonel Nicolas Means is waiting to take you and the Cardassian and Xi'Cadian leaders into custody to face trial."

[IKV Suvwl’SuS]

Charghwl'IH was about to slam a fist into his chair but stopped. Turning to his communications officer, "Hail our forces on the surface. They are to capture Turvan before Starfleet gets to him!"

"Milord they accepted his terms."

"They accepted his surrender. They didn't grant his request for asylum! Quickly!"

[Pangaea]

The orders to stand down had come in even as the Cardassians began to surrender. His forces having moved from offensive operations were now. Taking Cardassians into custody, keeping the Klingons in check, and seeing to the wounded.

He had been instructed to take the leaders into custody and have them escorted to the station. As Means and his team neared the coordinates a large group of Klingons swarmed the area and there was the red shimmering of a Klingon transporter.

[IKV Suvwl’SuS]

Charghwl'IH had gone to the main shuttle bay to welcome and honor his returning warriors when his aid approached. "My Lord...we have him."
